He said, “An additional six to seven suspects have been detained pending investigation.”

Kashif Zulfiqar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, said Dawn.com that evidence has been gathered from the site of the crime.

SSP Zulfiqar said, “There has been a rise in terrorist attacks on Warsak Road.” “A grenade was thrown at the Mathura police station a few days ago.”

According to SSP Zulfiqar, the local counterterrorism agency (CTD) and the police are cooperating. “A joint operation is planned for the Warsak Road areas.”

He went on, “The terrorist organisation will soon be revealed.”

The attack is the most recent in a line of assaults on police officers and checkpoints, which have mostly occurred in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Following the TTP’s 2022 breach of a tenuous ceasefire deal with the government and its threat to target security personnel, attacks intensified.

On Wednesday, unknown militants threw a hand grenade on a check station in Mayar, Lower Dir, resulting in the martyrdom of a head constable and injury to another constable.

In the outer reaches of Peshawar’s Regi Model Town, a police station was targeted by terrorists last month, injuring a policeman.

One hundred individuals were murdered in a suicide strike on a mosque in Peshawar’s Police Lines in January 2023, majority of them were law enforcement officers.

The incident had been attributed to TTP. Although reports previously suggested that it may have been the work of a local faction of the banned organisation, it subsequently distanced itself from it.
