Monday afternoon, in the Barstow region northeast of Los Angeles, there was a recorded earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 and at least two aftershocks.
There were two aftershocks in the Mojave Desert of San Bernardino County, with magnitudes of 3.5 and 2.8. Los Angeles, Pasadena, Glendale, Chatsworth, Granada Hills, Chino, Universal City, Claremont, and other places reported feeling trembling, according to the USGS website.
The Calico Fault, which passes through a desert, is the earthquake fault closest to the epicentre.
No early reports of damage were received.
Approximately 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles lies Barstow.
