A Florida-based business is recalling cucumbers due to the discovery of Salmonella during testing. According to the FDA, there may be a connection between the recall and a current outbreak.
The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture notified the firm that a product sample had tested positive for the bacterium, which prompted the recall. The Food and Drug Administration released a notification stating that they are “conducting whole genome sequencing to determine if this sample is related to an ongoing Salmonella outbreak investigation.”
At least 141 individuals have become ill due to an epidemic of Salmonella Africana infections, which the FDA is now looking into. Where the ill persons reside has not yet been disclosed by the authorities. Food safety lawyer Bill Marler was the first to note that the only Salmonella epidemic listed on the FDA’s current investigation chart is a Salmonella africana outbreak that has infected 141 individuals, with no known food link.
Whole cucumbers sent between May 17 and May 21 are being recalled by Delray, Florida-based Fresh Start Produce Sales Inc.

Retail distribution centers, wholesalers, and food service distributors in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia received bulk boxes containing the recalled cucumbers.
The dark green, 5 to 9-inch-long, 1.5 to 2.0-inch-diameter recalled cucumbers measure this. English and mini cucumbers are not covered by this recall. The repackaged cucumbers that were recalled were not disclosed by the corporation to consumers.
“Even though it’s doubtful that these cucumbers will be available for purchase, anybody in possession of the recalled product should destroy and discard it, or return it to the store for a refund. According to a corporate statement, customers should inquire with their store or place of purchase to find out if the recalled cucumbers were offered there.

Customers who purchased the recalled goods directly from Fresh Start Produce Sales have been informed and asked to take it out of distribution. Additionally, the business has requested that its direct clients inform their clients about this recall.
